Unusual art..

I love it when people make their homes truly personal
and when they add their own unique mark.

This example is from 'Absolutely Beautiful Things
and are the blades from a windmill hung above
an old work bench.  The picture was sent to Anna
Spiros (the author of A.B.T) by one of her Clients.

I think it looks great!

Design your own pillow..

An online company called 'Inmod' has a great
service where you can design your own pillow(s).

It is so much fun, but be warned,
it is also very addictive..! :)
Have fun, and don't forget to show me
your designs. Can't wait to see.

P.s. When you tire of the pillows..
go to the 'design your own bedding' option..

Lovely ladders..

I have long been looking for a great ladder for
the bathroom - you know, a nicely beaten up one
that I can varnish and use as a towel rack.

Desire to Inspire

Though I am fully aware that my kids would use
a bedside ladder like this one to perfect their bed-
bouncing (oh yes!), I really want one of these..

Amazing alfresco..

Though it is officially Autumn here in Australia,
the weather continues to be warm and lovely.

 Belle Maison

In contrary to Sydney Summer, it is actually really
pleasant to be outside now and makes it easy and fun
to plan for an array of nice & creative alfresco events.

Creating a table and a beautiful base for a garden party,
birthday brunch or picnic with friends is so enjoyable!
Here is some lovely inspiration for alfresco fun -
from Spring to Autumn here we go..

Easter twigs..

What I love most about Easter in Sweden is the
time of the year the event takes place - April.
Spring is clearly on approach and nature is
waking up after months of hibernation.

In most Swedish homes you'll find 'Påsk Ris'
(Easter twigs) that are decorated with feathers
and plumes in bright and happy colours.
A celebration of the returning light & life, and
the increasing colours emerging in nature.

In our little home we have twigs with
Easter carrots instead of feathers...
They have been a much loved staple since
since the kids were little and something that
now my (somewhat conservative) little ones
won't allow me to change.. These little carrots
(pink for Isabella and orange for Oscar)
are stuffed with candy. A task that Oscar sees as
his.. and Isabella is fighting hard to take over..

Though I am all for genuinity over style, I would
perhaps want something more in line with this..

Or better yet, an Easter Tree - a nice big cut of a
branch that could be plonked into a fabulous pot
or urn and dressed with carefully selected or
handmade decorations - that would be nice!

 Stylenotes

I love twigs, branches and most elements of
nature - they bring such life into a home.

Easter D.I.Y.

It has been a while since I did a D.I.Y. post and
so when I cam across Anna-Malin's amazing
Easter eggs over at 'Helt Enkelt' I had to share..

Copyright and images by Anna-Malin @ 'Helt Enkelt'

I love these eggs in the colours and execution she has
chosen,  but with her step-by-step instructions you can
make up your own designs and creative concepts.

Please share your creations with me.
I'd love to see them!

From my earlier post about Anna-Malin's dining table
you will know that she is super creative and very handy.
My admiration also deepened when recently I found out
she shares my deep love for Birch Trees.. More HERE.

Happy crafting my dears.

If I knew how..

I am experiencing some sort of side effect of Autumn
at the moment and can't get enough of decor that
includes some sort of knitted or crochet goods..

Sweet 'Sweet Paul' is a real handy-craft fan, and always
has a lot of fun knitted (and otherwise) decor on his blog.
How fun aren't some of these for Winter..?!

A knitted chair cover.. so cute!

Adorable too.

And if only I knew how, I would love to make one of
these blankets for Isabella. I know I can easily have one
made, but in my slightly conservative Swedish mind they
are only special when made by someone in the family..

Happy week my dears!

Boho chic table..

Isn't this table just divine. I love the colours,
the flower vintage vessels and the fruit on the plates.

It is the result of a wedding theme that originally
stemmed from a bedroom decor...

Blomsterverkstad..

I want to bring your attention to another beautiful
Swedish blog 'Blomsterverkstad'.

It is written by extremely creative florist & photographer
Minna Mercke Schmidt who recently released a book
that I for one would love to add to my coffee table..

If her blog is anything to go by (and I am sure it is!),
this book is a must for anyone who loves horticultural crafts.
It promises to teach you how to make wreaths, tie perfect
bouquets, create amazing centerpieces for the table,
make the most of your garden, make seasonal crafts etc.
It is beautifully styled and shot by Minna herself and looks
extremely tempting indeed! I am so getting one for myself!

The blog ,'Blomsterverkstad', is a wonderful 'smörgåsbord'
of ideas and I find myself going there for inspiration
on everything from table decor, to gift ideas and general
seasonal inspiration of all kinds. An absolute staple!

Her photography is stunning and an absolute treat to look at..

So when you feel the urge to make fabulous garlands
out of rowanberries or make a stunning wreath out
of brusselsprouts, you know where to go!

All with a wonderfully Swedish (Finnish) twist!
