HAPPY EASTER!

Hello lovelies! I am hopping in to wish you a very Happy Easter and a  wonderful start to Spring (or Autumn if you are South of the Equator)!

Sweden is definitely in Spring, though in true spirit of the month of April we have mixed spells of really warm & sunny days, and cold ones with snow/sleet. Today it's the latter and we are curling up inside with good books, movies and a nice supply of good quality organic chocolate eggs! :)

Big warm and sunny hugs to all!

Cute!

Aren't these just adorable!!?

Sorry, I can't for my life remember where I found this picture...

Isabella would LOVE little biscuits like these!

Easter eggs..

Though I must confess that in our house Easter does not
entail any major decorational efforts, we try to find time
to decorate some eggs. They may not be as stylish or
elaborate as the ones below, but it is great fun!

National Geographic

I was totally blown away when I saw this image via the
'National Geographic' magazine - isn't this amazing!?

Travel Ukraine

Ukrainian beaded eggs. These would be great in as part of a
traditional Easter table, but where does one find the time..
I wish my days (& energy levels) allowed for things like this..

Cottage In The Making (both)

Just love these simple yet ornate eggs. Just look at some of these
patterns - they are amazing! Love the colours as well.

Sweet Paul

Last but not least, I have drooled over the perfection of
this egg that was done for Sweet Paul as part of a shoot.
Wouldn't a series  of these with personal messages for
Easter-over-night-guests would be a magnificent treat..
If only...*sigh*

What Easter treats are you guys cooking up this year?

Easter eggs

There is one Swedish Easter tradition that I will never
part with, and that is to hand out egg-shaped gift-
containers with sweets to my children and loved ones.

The designs have a slightly vintage children's book feel
and still to this day bring back the feeling of Easter joy
that I felt as a child. Though I have kept some old ones
that my parents gave me when I was little, I was thrilled
to find that you can actually buy them at 'Papier d'Amour'
right down the street from where I live in Sydney.. Yay!

They also stock these really cute Russian inspired 'rabbit boxes'.

Not quite like the Easter egg that Czar Alexander III gave
his wife the Empress Maria Fedorovna back in Imperial Russia,
but cute never-the-less. And without the Fabergé price tag.. :)

Also think these little nests and creatures are nice.
Could look adorable on a kid's Easter table..or just generally
as part of a casual Easter buffet.

P.s. Was going to give you a post on Fabergé eggs - they are
so amazing.. but I have misplaced my file with all my research.. Iiiiih!

Easter twigs..

What I love most about Easter in Sweden is the
time of the year the event takes place - April.
Spring is clearly on approach and nature is
waking up after months of hibernation.

In most Swedish homes you'll find 'Påsk Ris'
(Easter twigs) that are decorated with feathers
and plumes in bright and happy colours.
A celebration of the returning light & life, and
the increasing colours emerging in nature.

In our little home we have twigs with
Easter carrots instead of feathers...
They have been a much loved staple since
since the kids were little and something that
now my (somewhat conservative) little ones
won't allow me to change.. These little carrots
(pink for Isabella and orange for Oscar)
are stuffed with candy. A task that Oscar sees as
his.. and Isabella is fighting hard to take over..

Though I am all for genuinity over style, I would
perhaps want something more in line with this..

Or better yet, an Easter Tree - a nice big cut of a
branch that could be plonked into a fabulous pot
or urn and dressed with carefully selected or
handmade decorations - that would be nice!

 Stylenotes

I love twigs, branches and most elements of
nature - they bring such life into a home.
