Alabama Chanin fabrics

Alabama Chanin believe in slow design and sustainability.
They produce only limited edition, unique and hand made
products and I am have fallen completely for these 100% organic
cotton fabrics with vintage and recycled applique & couched detail.

Any of these would look great in our master bedroom.

Ink & Spindle - boutique screen-printing studio

The other day I fell in love with the fabrics by
Ink & Spindle boutique screen-printing studio.

As I wanted to share these wonderful hand printed creations,
I wrote to the girls who run Ink & Spindle to ask if
I could post them on my blog, and they said yes.
(Thank you girls!)

My favourites from their collection of hand screen printed
fabrics is are 'Birch Forest' (in organge or black)
and 'Blue Wren' (in charcoal or inky blue).

I would love to have large cuts of each of these to frame
and hang on the wall in our upstairs hallway and master bedroom.
Both of these would also translate so well onto wall paper,
and I would love to use them both in my work.

What is also very exciting is that I got an invitation to visit
their studio next time I am down in Melbourne.
I am so thrilled about this and can't wait
to see all this creative magic in real life!!

Until then, please see photographer Marcel Lee's
lovely pictures from the studio.

Amy Butler and good night..

It is late (!) and it is time for me to hop off to bed.

Leaving you with these divine pictures from
Amy Butler's website.
When I am there I feel like a little child
pulling my mother's sleeve saying
'look at this, and this, and this'...

(so excuse the number of images... I just couldn't choose!)

Please click HERE to read a full introduction
to this amazingly talented and inspiring woman.

Oh and please look at her bags HERE...
and HERE for pics from her studio...
and HEEERE to see her paper crafts..

Gives me something to dream about.

G'nite!

Love at first sight!

I would love a generous cutting of this fabric!
Would make a great wall hanging,
or fantastic pillow covers for our living room sofa..
or tablets for my dining table.. or...

Edgecliff Road...

As the name suggests, this is like a candy store..
..only they don't sell candy.
At least not the kind you can eat..
..but they do however do delicious stationary,
cards and all sorts of marvellous things
you may need/want for a party.

Also, they have just opened a cafe,
which I am definitely going to try in the very near future.
I will let you know how it was..

Across the street from Le Bon Bon is another great little boutique
whose visual merchandiser creates such wonderful windows
that I have nearly bumped into other cars
in the round-about just outside the shop...

I will try to photograph some
over the next months to show you what I mean..

(I will park my car first though...)

No Chintz
And a few little steps away from Sambag
is heavenly fabric store No Chintz.

As pictures speak louder than words,
here is why I love this place...

Josef Frank

Josef Frank
One of my Swedish (actually Swedish-Austrian) favourites.
Though he may be most commonly known for his textiles,
Josef was in fact an also an architect, furniture designer,
and glass ware-, lighting- and metalwork- artist.

With Josef's philosophy that
"Every human needs a certain degree of sentimentality to feel free.."
he created over 200 textile patterns between 1909 and 1950.
Some of these are available at
wonderful Stockholm based
'Svenskt Tenn'.

Here is a (very) brief selection..

His fabrics (also translated into wallpaper) used in interiors..
