Jonathon Wright

Whilst we are still on the subject of Ann Arbor..

In 1993, illustrator Jonathon Wright's wife
ran a preschool program from home.
On a whim they decided to install
a little fairy door at the house.
The response from the children was
so positive that Jonathon decided
to build some more.

In an attempt to brighten the day for
the people of Ann Arbour and to help
struggling shop keepers, Jonathon
has installed several doors around town.

One such door (quite famous now) is located
at a gift store called Peaceable Kingdom.
The door actually leads into a little fairy room
which is filled with tiny furnishings.

Store owner Carol Lopez has seen traffic to her
store increase steadily since the fairy door appeared.
She is receiving a lot of press coverage which in turn
drives more visitors from near and far.

Here is a list of addresses for
the fairy doors of Ann Arbor:

Sweet Waters Café, 123 West Washington
Peaceable Kingdom, 210 South Main St
Selo/Shevel Gallery, 301 South Main St
Red Shoes, 332 South Ashley, Ann Arbor
Ann Arbor Framing Co., 838 South Main St
Jefferson Market, 609 West Jefferson
The Ark, 316 South Main St
Ann Arbor District Library, 343 South Fifth Ave
Nicola's Books, Westgate Shopping Center
Kay Wilson DDS, Pediatric Dentistry, 1303 Packard Rd

Their heart shaped map aside,
I am liking Ann Arbor more
and more by the minute!
