I feel all fired up about the gorgeous homes I visited whilst at home. Contrary to me (the nomad that I am..), many of my friends in Sweden have stayed put, purchased amazing homes and decorated them with care, zest and an loving attention to detail. What I like the most about Swedish interiors is the somewhat 'restrained' and 'quiet' approach. Rarely are the interiors exaggerated, brash or overly ornate. Instead there that lovely (and so typical) focus on simplicity, maximizing light, the beauty & texture of the raw materials, and the dynamics of the space itself. All of this allows for treasured objects, quirky details, and personal touches to really stand out.
Here are two Swedish house tours and one Danish.. :) that I enjoyed via Sköna Hem recently...******** * ********
The story of this gorgeous place started in a sauna in a famous Swedish ski resort called Åre (..a wonderful place btw..!)... The owners casually mentioned that they were looking to build a house in the area of Varberg (in the South, on Sweden's West coast) when one of the guys said he happened to own land there and that he was happy to sell.. Talk about meant to be.. The result (after consulting several architects, and investing a lot of blood, sweat and tears..) is a 350 square meter house over three stories, with a lot of air, space and openness. I love the use of industrial and commercial materials in contrast with earthy simplicity & clean lines.

This lovely house is located in the archipelago outside of Stockholm, and despite the older style of the architectural bones & details, it is a new build. The owners have decorated it with focus on light, openness and a lot of personality through the use of an ecclectic mix of furniture and finishes.

A beautiful 'turn-of-the-century' apartment (ca 1890) in Denmark with a slightly bohemic, creative & relaxed mix'n'match style and a lot of humour. To me the house immediately struck me as so typically 'Danish' in the detail and colours. And as with many Danish homes, it is just lovely..!
The couple who live here run a gorgeous interior and clothes shop called 'Brinja Kobenhavn', located in Copenhagen. They also have a a blog (HERE) that you might like..
Happy Tuesday all!

Lovely homes, gorgeous inspiration!
I had plans to show that first industrial home at 'Komma hem'...:)think its all in my taste!
That last home has such a typical Danish feeling. I love how they keep things simple when it comes to home decor and with a vintage touch. The sheepskins looks so cozy! And of course the stunning bookshelf...love it, always do!

Gosh, what a treat for you to share all these gorgeous spaces with us. Some serious drooling going on up here in the UK, Charlotta!
I have to say, though, my favourite are the antler candlesticks - so fun!

I can definitely understand the concept of wanting more light in your home, when you live in the northern hemisphere!
You are so spoilt in Australia from the copious amount of light ... I so miss that!
The homes are just gorgeous Charlotta.
Have a great week.

Oh, what lovelies... You made me want to visit Kopenhagen, haven't been there for some years now.
Hi Charlotta, I'm in love with the first home. My favorite place is the library with that gorgeous ceiling. sigh... xo
Tons of gorgeousness! So Scandinavian! So lovely!
What a fun spot for the wood logs! And that last hallway with the wall paper is a favorite of mine!
A warm, gigantic hug.

It's amazing how much of a white convert I have come in terms of decorating. It is so incredibly refreshing and really evokes such a feeling of restfulness.
I love these tours :)
I could feel quite at home in these rooms, love me a white room. The large map on the wall is also speaking to me, quite nice.
Oh Charlotta, thank you so much for the house tours! I am so fond of the Swedish style! I do love both of the houses!

Wow, thanks for posting these, I love them!!! That second one especially is beautiful, I like the random pops of color :)
I had seen the first home before and was in love too. However, i am only just seeing the second home and i am drooling. I love your double dosage of inspiration:-). XX
The Swedes seem to really have such a distint sense of style...all of it fabulous and so inspirational! I really hope to visit Sweden one day...between the people and the aesthetics I think I would feel right at home! Loving the look of the blue blog banner...that too has a Gustavian feel to me! XX

White is like the perfect politician. It goes with everything, every finish, every piece you want to place in the same space. Love that gold and white...the painted panels, really everything! Lovely post, it looks like you've found some settle time to post such lovelies :) XOXO Kel
Kram Jenny
Charlotta, I think the home outside Stockholm is my favorite with the warmer touches. The carpet and rugs look so lush and the furniture looks so inviting... Although I did like the Denmark space - those lighter plank floors are beautiful...
LOVE LOVE LOVE the bed! Oh my, it's beautiful, as are the rest of these photos...
I wish i knew where to get those white deer antler candle holders??

It is clear that you all enjoy these Swedish house tours as much as I do, and I will do my best to bring you more!
Many of you also asked about / liked the 'antler candle sticks'. I have contacted Skona Hem for more information and hope to hear back soon.
