Summer cleanse..!

Hello friends!
Hope you are all enjoying a marvelous weekend. We are certainly doing just that here in sunny Sydney where Summer is at it's peak and life is breezy!

Though it would be so nice to continue being swept away in a haze of sunshine and ice creams, it is time to embark on the first of my (quarterly) 'detox programmes' for the year..!
Though it will be hard to pull away from all the treats and temptations of Summer, I feel encouraged by the fact that my favourite food stores & markets are full of fabulous fresh produce right now. And as you know, a good detox rests on just that - fresh foods that are packed with nutrition and 'live energy'!

As of tomorrow I will start adjusting my diet to off-load my body, and to generally allow it to eliminate stored toxins.
I will also take herbal supplements to help stimulate various parts of my body to detox & expel all the pollution into the bloodstream so that they can be transported out of my body. It will be hard for the first few days but towards the end of the week I'll start feeling the benefits and after that it will only get better and better!

I would love it if you joined me on this journey, but before you make up your mind please read THIS POST that I did back in August.
It takes you though the various aspects of detoxing and gives you a good overview of a 'typical day' on the programme that I follow. If you have any questions, please let me know and I'll try to help. x

Before I sign off for today, I would like to say thank you to everyone who shared so generously their lists of 'seven things' as part of the Stylish Blogger Award. I loved reading your lists and look forward to more sharing in the future! x

Special thank you also to 'Simply My Life' for passing the award back to me. Such a sweet and much appreciated gesture! xx

 Vintage Rose Garden

And whilst I am on the subject of gratefulness, I would like to send a big hug and thank you to sweet Carole of 'Dear Designer's Blog' for passing me a brand new and wonderful award called the 'A Blog With Substance'.

As I said to Carole earlier today.. There is nothing more important to me than to have 'substance' and as such I am very moved by this nomination! Thanks again my friend, you made me very happy indeed! xx

Ok lovelies, that's it for today. I hope you join me on the detox, and that just generally you have a fabulous rest of the weekend & start to the new week!

xx Charlotta

P.S. Vicki and Catherine. Congratulations again on winning the photo give-away. Marshall is preparing your prints and I'll email you as soon as they have been put in the mail. xx

Hi Sweetie!
Congrats on another Great Award. Fits your blog just right. Space for inspiration have more than enough substance:)!
Would love to go on a detox journey with you, but feel I have not got motivation enough to go through something like that, but am really looking foward to follow you on your personal journey! It´ll also be such a great support for me, starting with my not so difficult GI-diet.

Stor kram Jenny

Dearest Charlotta,
Sooo happy to see that you have returned from your christmas vacation and seems that your are vacation again...just brezz'in it out....That is terrific!!! I love the icecream foto and I love icecream, especially "gelato italiano". My Detox program usually start in the month Febuary because at the same time the seasons will be changing, along with a plenty artichokes, tisane
and wonderful walks in the woods. All trees, plants and vegetation are also trasforming at the same time and I love being an evolved participant at that time. So, I'll being following you and try to combine it with my timing.
Congrads with the awards, you are so deserving of them. See you soon lovely, I miss your inspiration and energy.

Wow, you are so brave Charlotta! I would love to join you on your detox tour but I think I'll do it a little later as soon as spring starts here. Then we have more vegetables and greens to support it. In the meantime I started Bikram Yoga and running and I must say that is a great way to energize and get in shape for the summer. And I must admit I have to because we are travelling to the British Virgin Islands in April so I want to be in shape before that time:-)

Dear Charlotta,

I am so happy for you and that you are completely enjoying my favorite time of year. It's a little painful here with the cold and dreary days of Jan/Feb! I remember your August post and it was one of my favorites. I actually have it saved :) I love the way you put together a post! You deserve all the awards and then some for your style, substance and inspiration from the other side of the globe XOXO Kelly

Oh you are a brave soul to detox in the peak of summer goodness! I suppose that's better than the middle of winter here when we all pile on the fat to keep ourselves warm. :) What great inspiration you are!! Maybe I need to get back into gear, I do have a beach vacation just over a month away. eek!!

Beautiful post Charlotta, love the pics and I have taken some inspiration from your words for a detox - we are also in mid-summer in Cape Town and I could certainly do with a bit of a diet!
Have a gorgeous week xxx

Great plan! I started absolute-non-sugar diet a few months ago and feel much more energetic :)
I had to give it up for Chrismas, of course, but... sometimes it is worth to spoil yourself :)

Charlotta, you are good! I could need a body cleanse here -- but I am not a bit motivated when it is cold and gray. I might come back for more tips coming summer.

Congratulations on all the awards. Well deserved, sister!

While I would love to join you on your detox I simply cannot at this point during my life lol.... pregnant with twins is making me want to eat all of that ice cream in your first picture. I am usually fabulous at self restraint... but the new pregnant me is not... maybe next time!

Lovely pics Charlotta, good luck with your detox, it will be so worthwhile!x

Love your bright and sunny summer images. I've been eating very clean but fell off the wagon last night with 2 chunks of chocolate--whoops! This is such a good time to start thinking about cleansing the diet though.

Hi everyone and thank you so much for all your lovely comments. It's truly special to hear your feedback and I am thrilled you are here! xx

Tina - Thank you my friend. You are so kind and warm always. A GI diet sounds like a great plan and I'm supporting you all the way! xx

Jenny - Hej! Yes isn't it strange to think we are living absolute extremes right now..! I hope you allow yourself the Springtime dreams you so long for. It's not long to go now.. x

Kirsten - Grazie tanto. I loved visiting you the other day. What a lovely initiative with the 'school'. You are such an inspiration!!! Baci x

Anita - Hello gorgeous. I can understand the *might*.. :) It's Winter where you are after all.. xx

Elizabeth - Hi. Yay, I love that anticipation. Isn't it wonderful that you guys will be leaping into Spring. How wonderful! xx

Tiina - Hej! Yes we are well and safe from the terrible water masses. I have watched the horrid floods and cried plentifully. It's beyond cruel what has happened. Thanks for thinking of us. xx

Lise - Hello my friend. Yes, I don't blame you for wanting to wait for Spring to arrive before you do a detox. Bikram Yoga is great - such a cleansing and spiritual form of exercise. Sounds like you are off on a good start for your holiday! xx

Design Chic - Iiiihh, that sounds so cold! Yes, hop on a plane and come on over! I'll take you snorkeling with tropical fish! :)

Kelly - Hello! Yes I feel for you. Jan/Feb can be a drag in the Northern hemisphere.. Thank you for your kind words re my August post. xx And thank you also on the congratulations. You are the sweetest! x

xx Charlotta

F.L.A - Yes yes yes! I hear you on all of that and I SO wish I could have a big serving of yummy Italian gelato right now..! :)

Y - Detoxing at any time of the year is hard, but Summer in Sydney means there is an abundance of fantastic fresh foods that are allowed on our programme. Thank goodness!
Thank you for your kind words. It means a lot. xx

Lisa - Cape Town must be beautiful right now. A city I definitely want to visit one day! Enjoy it to the full! x

Design Traveller - Non-sugar diets are fantastic. I haven't gone 'all out' but I've done several GI diets and my particular body type thrives on it. Good luck and enjoy those little 'treats' once in a while. xx

Mon - I totally empathize with your lack of motivation to cut any treats out in the midst of Winter..! :) Hang on in there Spring is around the corner and with it a big warm sun..! xx

Camly Chaotic - Everytime I see your blog name I giggle. It's such a great title! Congratulations on your pregnancy - how exciting! I hope you are enjoying your cravings to the full! :)

Lana - Hello my friend. Thanks for your comment. I have hit day six on the programme and also the point when the initial rush has settled and hunger hits.. All I think about is a perfect latte accompanied with a crusty croissant..! Sigh.. x

Mary Jo - 2 chunks of chocolate is nothing. You must enjoy life and the little treats that come with it. Thanks for your sweet comment. xx

Marianne - Yes Summer is great, but you know what. It's even better to be able to dream about it and then suddenly it's there. Here in Australia we dont have the distinct seasons I am used to in my native Sweden. Enjoy the rest of Winter and Spring will be there in no time! x

Simone - Hello gorgeous. Yes a detox always sounds like such a great idea.. only they are soooo hard at times.. It certainly helps that it's Summer and I can sit on the beach with a big batch of fresh fruit and berries! :)

Hugs to all and thanks again!

xx Charlotta

A bit of a cleansing may be in order when i move to our new home. We're actually staying with a kind friend right now and life is a tad chaotic, so i probably wouldn't be able to focus on cleansing just now. I remembered your 1st post too and said the next time you posted about it that i would join you...:-). Congrats on the award-it's certainly well deserved! Hugs and love to you! S
