It is no secret that I absolutely love (!) the mountains. In fact I think I may be a reincarnated mountaineer or ranger, because I get a very special feeling of serenity and genuine belonging when I am in mountainous terrain.
Matterhorn via Picasa - I would love to climb the 'Hörnli ridge' (right).. A distant dream..!
For two years I lived in the divine (Olympic) village of Lillehammer Norway where I enjoyed a full life of hiking, climbing, skiing and other mountainous fun. It was perfect for me and I still dream of one day owning a cozy chalet perched in-between snowy peaks just like this one near beautiful Matterhorn (one of my favourite peaks!) in Switzerland..
I once stayed as a guest in a privately owned castle in this area of Switzerland. My host and his family had held their beautiful grand home & grounds for many generations. Suffice to say it was a real privilege to be able to experience their warm hospitality in such a unique and exclusive setting. George, if you read this. Thanks again - that was such a fun Easter break! Good memories.x
During that same trip I also skied the Matterhorn, and though I have swooped down the pistes (and off-pistes!) of many famous places in the Alps I would probably rate this one as one of my favourite skiing destinations (after Chamonix, Avoriaz and the Mount Blanc slopes in Val d'Aosta).

You REALLY lived on a mountain like this .. oh my, too exciting. This rustic home is made even more amazing by that window in the bedroom .. imagine sleeping there - with that view .. *sigh* indeed (-:
Awww, for some reason this post has a cooling effect on me. It was almost 100 degrees today and although i'm a summer girl, this wintry post is exactly what i needed:-). Beautiful scenery/vista too! I could definitely feel at home here! XX
Fun to read a winter-inspired post during the warmer months over on UK shores, but much needed because I do enjoy some cosy, snow-related inspiration at any time of the year. I'd like to bunk up in here for a few weeks holiday for sure!
What a beautiful place to live...love Ria...xxx...
Hi sweet friend,
Thanks for entering my giveaway and yes i'm on fb. It's probably easier for me to find you though because of my privacy settings. Hope you're having a wonderful day! XX
Här skulle jag gärna tillbringa några veckor! MEN nu får man passa på att njuta av den så kallade sommaren :) Ha en fin midsommar!
Ciao.
We just live on the other side of Matterhorn (Zermatt) not Valle d'Aosta but Piemonte Region (Alagna Monterosa ski).
Actually we can ski down to Zermatt through the glacier (Monte Rosa glacier) with heli-skiing and off piste skiing. Many Swedes and Norvwegians come to visit us every winter to experience this.
Like your give away

beyond wonderful to live on this place! love these images! thanks for your lovely comment today, Charlotta! virtual hugs to you
I can't ski - sadly I tried and was hopeless. But I love winter and the mountains. We went to Austria a couple of times when living in Belgium and I loved it. The chalet is so gorgeous. If you move to a chalet like that in the mountains can we all come to visit??? Lol.
Hej !
Det låter så mysigt med din tillhörighet :) Och du får mig (nästan) att längta efter snö.
Trevlig Midsommar ! Om du firar det ?
