Hello darlings! I hope you are all enjoying a nice weekend.
We are having a lot of fun preparing for Christmas here. The tree is up, though not yet dressed as it is a tradition in our family to wait until the week before Christmas to do so.
We have also baked saffron bread and ginger biscuits, and started writing our Christmas cards. Next weekend we'll be making truffles and sweets for our family & friends, and we'll also be making a ginger bread house. So many lovely things to do this time of the year don't you think!?! :)

Today's Christmas post comes from my adorable friend Sarah of 'Haute Design'. Most of you will already know of this blogette extraordinaire, whose award winning blog is followed internationally and loyally. Sarah has a way of spellbinding her readers with her always stylish and thought through posts. It is a pleasure to have her here today and I know you will love her post as much as I do!
Hello! I am so happy to be here on Charlotta’s lovely blog today, sharing a bit about my Christmas traditions, and what this magic time of year means to me. So without further ado:
What does Christmas mean to you?
It is the celebration of the birth of Jesus.

It is simply not Christmas without…?

Thank you dear Sarah for this very lovely post. That spark of magic, and warm & generous love that are in the air at Christmas time came through here today. In this house we love the 'Polar Express' - in fact we watched it only last weekend, as we have done each year in the weeks leading up to Christmas since Oscar was born (8 years ago). Such a beautiful and warm film!
Sarah, I wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas, and all the best for the New Year. Your posts lately have been so full of kindness and generosity - may all of that be returned to you in 2012! xx
Before I go.. Do pop across to my friend Stuart over at 'What Wilson Wants'. He is featuring a fun 'festive header series' and this week you'll see my contribution - a trio of reindeer baubles.. Thanks Stuart for letting me take such prominent part of your blog - what an honour! xx
I will be back in a couple of days with a gorgeous post from my darling friend Simone of 'The Bottom of the Ironing Basket'.
Hugs and kisses
xx Charlotta
P.S. On Tuesday it's the 13th December and we celebrate 'Lucia'. The tradition can be traced back to 300AD and to the Sicilian saint Lucia, who over the years has become a symbol of light and hope during this the very darkest time of the year.
It's a much loved tradition that for us will involve performances by the children at school. This will be the very first time they take part in a formal 'Lucia procession' and I just can't wait to see it!!

Dearest Charlotta,
Lovely blog and great posts, guest posts and otherwise!
Wishing you a meaningful Christmas in the family tradition and may we all reach out to others less fortunate.
Love to you,
Mariette
I knew we could trust Sarah to bring some beautiful images and words. I always think her posts are so thought-provoking, which is what sets her blog above many. Of course, wonderful Christmas ideas too - and The Polar Express - we have a favourite in common! I read the book to my son the other night and the end STILL makes me cry. Such a softie! I can still hear the bells though!!
I am really enjoying this series Charlotta. A wonderful selection so far...and looking forward to Simone's.
