Happy Spring to the South of the World!!

Aaaah yes! Finally it is here..! Today is the offical 'first day of Spring' for us here in the lower half of the world. The 'Weather Gods' knew we needed more proof than the date itself and they blessed us with 25C (77F) and sunny! 'Tusen tack' for that!! :)

Sydney is a symphony of blooming Jacaranda and Magnolia trees at the moment!

As a Swede I am used to a very sloooow approach of Spring back home and when it finally hits it is as if a magic wand has touched my beloved countrymen - they are transformed from hibernating zombies to bouncy balls so full of energy that our fellow Continental neighbours shake their heads in amusement.

Suddnely the Swedes awake. They blossom, tweet, sparkle and explode in tune with the awakening of nature and as a child I embraced a tradition of 'Spring Screaming' founded by a famous children's book character named Ronja Rövardotter (by Astrid Lindgren who also invented Pippi Longstocking). In consideration of my children and the public perception that their mother is (reasonably) sane, I no longer unleash the desire to stand on top of a mountain and holler in joy and honour of this most splendid season. Instead I do it quietly and inwardly.. and I whisper a heart felt welcome to the 'alfresco season' that will last well into next year for us!

xx Charlotta

Hi Charlotta, forgive me. I thought you were still in Sweden and I've just sent you some idiotic email.
You may be sane, but clearly I'm not!
Happy first day of spring!

Spring-like wishes to you!

Today has been glorious here as we go into Autumn, the weather is better this week than through the most of August.

I'm trying to store sunshine in readiness for the Winter so that I have my own little solar supply to call on in times of chill!

We Finns are the same when the spring comes... we wake up and start to smile again after the long winter (that is too soon ahead of us...).

I love spring and the positive change it makes in me and everyone around me.

Well, since I have to "fall" in love with autumn now, I am thrilled to enter the season knowing I can live through the spring and summer (my favorite season) with you! That is a lovely perk I just figured out about blogging. Light bulb, ON :) Keep the posts coming, I'll be at the window watching. I'll be sporting jeans and you'll be frolicking in the freeness of sundresses! Breath in, ahhhh, enjoy the 77F!

Charlotta, your writing tickles me pink. Thanks for the smile on my face. I love it--zombies to bouncing balls. Oh I so do know the feeling. I'm happy for you in spring. We've had the hottest summer in the USA and can't wait for it to end--not fair--we waited all winter for it!!
Best,
Liz

I remembers also celebrating the first day of spring with so much joy and enthusiasm in Argentina {I am from the Patagonia with it's cold snowy winters}... it was almost like you got a new begging.. and the town would just be joyful...!!
Happy Springtime sweets!!! Hope it's full of alfresco dining, long picnics... and just a lot of laughter!!
what's a Swedish girl doing in Australia??
