House tour: Swedish attic conversion

Hello lovely people. Just saw this peaceful attic conversion over at Sköna Hem and thought you'd enjoy a tour..

It is located in the hustle and bustle of central Stockholm, however has a quietness about it that really appeals to me. Needless to say the generous use of white and neutral wood has a lot to do with the soothing impression.. And you know how we 'Swedes' adore white, especially when highlighted by an abundance of natural light..!

Though I love the sleekness of the strict & modern clean lines, I would have balanced it our with a rougher looking reclaimed timber floor.. A few older pieces would have looked nice in here too.. I do however love the custom-made sliding ladder in the kitchen, making the most of the amazing ceiling height! Also think the 'Enigma' pendant lamps (by Louis Poulsen) look great with their long wires, drawing the eye towards what looks like a skylight.

I love this 'Flower' coffee table by Christine Schwarzer - it reminds me of the stunning curves of Finish architect/designer Alvar Aalto's creations (I am a HUGE fan of his work!). Also note the gorgeous pillow cover by Josef Frank (available at Svenskt Tenn - one of my favourite shops in Stockholm!).

And as with most of the 'attic conversions' this one also offers a cute balcony with stunning views over the roof tops of my beloved Stockholm.. What a dream!

Have a beautiful end to the week and a relaxing weekend!

Is that a fireplace between the kitchen and the dining area? That looks a bit blissful to me :) Have a great weekend Charlotta.

Hello Charlotta!

How are you as the week comes to a close? I hope you and the family are well and looking forward to some fun time over the weekend?

This home tour is, as your rightly say, very peaceful. My favourite part of it has to be the midnight blue rug beneath the dining table. It serves to perfectly frame the table and chairs and 'zones' it off from the rest of the open plan space.

Big hugs!

Will xo

Hi Charlotta - this is what the Scandinavians do best. Those dining chairs - I just loved them. My aunt and uncle in Copenhagen had the same - they are such a statement. Lou x

Charlotta, it's perfection (although I agree with you about the floors). And I love the use of blue used so skillfully throughout. So glad I found your blog, thank you for stopping by mine. I'm bookmarking you now :)

Ummm, identity crisis! I think I might be Swedish :D ha! LOVE it! My dining room is all white. Sometimes I think about adding color, but then...it's so clean and different. I believe the food and people add the seasoning :) XOXO Kelly

What is not to love! All Swedish beauty. And all that light!

I have that black tray leaning against the wall in the kitchen. It is Ikea! It is huge and I love it!

Love to you,

sis Mon

Wow, what a gorgeous home tour. You know how much I love the Swedes and the Swedish design. Just stunning! Thanks for sharing. I hope you enjoy the wonderful summer time down under! When will you be back in Sweden? I discussed the idea of a 'Meet the Bloggers' event with several enthousiastic bloggers here in Europe so I hope you will join too next summer! It would be great to meet up in one of the hotspots in Stockholm. Don't you think?
