Forest glass house..

I really love this stunning 1 500 square foot forest retreat on Decatur Island, Washington. The seamless relationship between the inside and outside, and the way that this house embraces it's beautiful setting resembles the approach taken by architect icons Mies van der Rohe and Frank Lloyd Wright (two of my favourites).

The house was designed by 'Suyama Peterson Deguchi' - founded by architect George Suyama in 1971 the practice draws on traditions of Japanese as well as NorthWest Contemporary styles, with a strong focus on marrying the structure with it's surrounding landscape.

As a lover of nature, I have a huge weakness for houses like these - one can't get much closer to the surrounding forest than this. Can you imagine the amazing shifts in the scenery pending the weather, season, or time of the day..!?! I'd be transfixed.

what a stunning place, charlotta. I think it would be grand in great weather OR bad weather - to always be able to observe nature would be wonderful...

transfixed indeed! As long as you were sure not to think about cleaning all those windows :)

Stunning! The vistas and it must be breathtaking to observe the changes that come with each season! Almost like an ever changing larger than life piece of art:-) XX

Charlotta, the Pacific NW is one of the most beautiful places on earth; if I could I would live there full-time. The Canadian side as well. Beautiful post, darling one...

Oh no, I wrote such a long comment last night and it hasn't appeared. Bother.

So, briefly, I just wanted to say thankyou for your comment the other day - and you could not be bad at anything, let alone bad-blogger-friend. I'd be chuffed if you even stopped by - let alone regularly.

Have a great day today (-:
