Sealed with love..

If this isn't the most perfect gift for a new parent then I
don't know what is!?! How divine to have a hand or foot
print stamp of one's baby - something to pass onto the child
as they are older and have their own babies. I love this
idea and wish it had been around when I popped my kids.

This and many more fantastic things found by lovely
Rachel over at 'Handmade Charlotte' - you'll love this site!

Thank you!

I owe a big thank you to my lovely friend and blog sis
Monika Claassen, writer of 'Splendid Willow'.

Paper montage on acrylic

Monika did a lovely post about my work, something
I don't talk about much in this blog but that is a big
part of who I am. I won't tell you the story behind
how I ended up with a paintbrush in my hand now,
but promise to come back and share a bit more later.

In the meantime, here are some snippets from my folio.
There are a lot more to view on my work blog - HERE.

Paper montage on acrylic

All my murals are drawn freehand and painted from scratch.

Typical styling board for a Client. This one on a shoestring budget.

Acrylic paint on cotton duck canvas.

What I do want to say is 'TUSEN TACK' to Monika,
it was very sweet of you to highlight me on your very
very beautiful blog - I am so grateful (and humbled),
and I promise to get myself sorted on the Etsy thing..

A big THANKS to Leigh over at Brabourne Farm for also
posting about me, and lovely Manvi at Mochatini,  Leni
at Crea Diem, Malin at Helt Underbart and Fiorello
for doing the same. I am so happy & grateful you did! xx

I was also thrilled to recently be interviewed recently
on the 'Who Hub' network. Invited by another member
I answered a series of great and interesting questions.

You can read the full interview by clicking HERE.

Last but not least, I would a big thanks to Priscilla Barros,
the clever lady behind 'Little Miss Heirlooms' and the
editor-in-chief of newly launched online mag 'Babykins'.
The magazine is packed with exciting ideas, information,
links, features and products for trend seeking families.

Priscilla did an email interview with me a few months
ago and has run parts of it along with some images in
the latest issue of her magazine. THANK YOU Pricilla!

Pricilla, I hope the magazine does really well - best of luck!

Thank you again to everyone who has highlighted my work.

Design your own pillow..

An online company called 'Inmod' has a great
service where you can design your own pillow(s).

It is so much fun, but be warned,
it is also very addictive..! :)
Have fun, and don't forget to show me
your designs. Can't wait to see.

P.s. When you tire of the pillows..
go to the 'design your own bedding' option..

I spy..

Jena over at 'Modish' brought my attention
to talented jeweller and Etsy shop

Here are some pieces that took my fancy..

Silver ring with Rutiled quartz. Stunning!

Gorgeous Rubellite tourmaline ring. V romantic & girly!

Aqua Aura crystal ring. Love this colour for summer!

Reminds me a bit of an acorn, but is in fact a fossilized tooth
of a 'Mosasaur' - a reptile creature from the Cretaceous Period.

This shade of red (paprika)is one of my favourites.
It's made of a Bakelite ball (a very collectable old
plastic, and this button is probably at least 60 yrs old).

There are many (!) more pieces in her gallery, and I for
one will definitely book mark this one for future treats
and gifts for my special friends.

Zaishu Studio

I am in love with these beautiful slot-together
seats/tables with stunning hand-printed & silk-
screened designs and patterns by Zaishu Studio.

The products are made here in Australia out of
Native Australian Hoop Pine which is both
very strong and also an eco sustainable material.

Though each seat/table only weighs 3 kilos, it
can hold up to 150 kilos in weight!! Impressive!

The range takes inspiration from the slot-together
wooden beams in Japanese Buddhist temple.
Placing the five panels of a Zaishu seat/table flat
on the floor mirrors the lines & curves of a
traditional Japanese Kimono dress.

I think the designs are stunning and would love
to start my own little collection right now!

This design is inspired by Nordic interiors and
traditional cross stitch embroidery patterns.

This Australian themed design was created in close
teamwork with textile designer Nicola Cerini.

Another nature-inspired design with delicate
prints of Alpine forests, Australian Waratah pods,
and brown Eucalyptus leaves.V nice!

This artwork 'Equine' is a rare limited edition design
by Australian creative magician Angus McDonald.

I am so into equestrian themes at the moment,
and think it will be the next big thing over here..
When owls leave the trees there will be horses
standing underneath them for sure...

Better than Nylon!

Ok, so half the blogging world are typing out loud about
new online magazine 'Lon ny' and their launch this week...
and I don't blame them - it is fabulous people!!

I have just come up for air having lost myself
in the near 200 pages (just that!!) of blissful reading,
and tremendously inspiring & beautiful imagery!

Here are a few tasty samples from the premiere issue;

I love this table setting with the vintage table wear
and fresh cut daisies in different kinds of vases..

What a great shot - the serenity created by focusing the
(gorgeous) chandelier in this seemingly messy library.
I love the endless shelves of books, books and more books..

Is there anything better...?!

Like a blank canvas waiting to be filled
with life, colour and laughter..

What a fabulous place to build a little nest..!

The sheer lining of the bamboo roller blinds is great!
Also love that 'hand picked' bouquet of flowers - it is
something I miss doing since moving from Sweden...
... going for a walk to pick some flowers.

The floor!

Unnecessary to say, the photography of Lonny is stunning!
Thanks to Patrick Cline (*&*)

The Great Danes

Recently I stumbled across a wonderful Danish magazine
'BoligLiv'
It looks like one that I would read regularly,
and I so wish I could pick up a copy at my local newsagent.

They have some great bloggers that I have added to my subscriptions
and that for sure will give much enjoyment and inspiration.

There is also has a very useful directory of web addresses
- all listed in categories such as 'Homes and Flea Market Finds',
'Creative Projects', 'All For Children' etc.

Here are a few examples
(apologies to my Danish friends if my translations aren't 100%..):

Bon Bon Kakku
Dream about designing your own textiles and have them produced?
This is a web shop where you can send in your own designs
and have them assessed by the owners who will
decide which designs get produced.
The most popular designs are sold by the meter for 25 euro pr. meter.

Winner of 'Winter 2009'

Trines - Loppefund
I fell in love with this one right away.
Trine who runs the shop loves flea market finds
and does not want the wonderful treasures to go lost.
She lovingly keeps the things un-restored so that the buyers themselves
can decide what 'personal touch' they want to put to the items.
All she wants is that (I quote)
"..all these wonderful old things with
soul and patina are not just erased, but that they move onto new owners
who value their unique look and also the fact that
they have a soul and history attached.".

I just love it!
She makes it feel like you are adopting
an abandoned pet from the local pound.
..and in a way that is exactly what you are doing..
